Owens Corning Organic & Microscopy Analytical Lab Technician in Granville, Ohio
Location: Granville, Ohio - United States As an Analytical Laboratory Technician, you will work in a corporate lab servicing the technician needs of all Owens Corning’s business units around the globe. You will support the organic and microscopy sections of the lab. You will handle routine and non-routine sample preparation along with completing qualitative and quantitative chemical and microscopic analyses on a wide range of materials. This will include the characterization of various raw materials used to make our products as well as the finished product itself. Reports to : Organic/Microscopy Lab leader JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate an unconditional commitment to safety Continuous commitment and attention to safety in the laboratory working environment Dedication to housekeeping, safety meetings, and special safety projects Sample preparation of materials for analysis (40%) General sample preparations for microscopic and chemical analysis as well as classical and wet chemical analyses. Follow detailed methods and procedures; communicating observations and results Utilize the LIMS to manage tasks for efficient operation of the lab Qualitative and quantitative analysis by optical and electron microscopic methods, instrumental methods, wet chemistry methods, and titrations (40%) Utilize software and instrumentation for the analyses of samples prepared (optical and electron microscopy, UV-Vis, GC, GC-MS, FTIR, HPLC, thermal analysis, and pyrolysis.) Provide quality repeatable and reproducible testing results without errors Maintain instruments and equipment; identify consumables to be ordered Method development and validation and establishment of instrumentation (10%) Utilize advanced instrumentation with data analysis Develop and validate methods under scientist advisement Develop and implement of new characterization methods Generate ideas for continuous improvement of lab processes or methods JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : 4 year college degree in science, B.S. in Chemistry or Materials Science and Engineering preferred 3+ years of experience working in a chemical and/or microscopy laboratory with analytical instrumentation (optical and electron microscopes, UV-Vis, GC, GC-MS, FTIR, HPLC, thermal analysis, and pyrolysis.)
