SMG Staff Accountant in Columbus, Ohio
SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Staff Accountant at the SMG/Greater Columbus Convention Center. This position is responsible for preparing event settlements, create and maintain financial spreadsheets, and assist in preparation of financial reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and reconcile event settlements in Ungerboeck
Create and maintain reports using excel, Solomon, Ungerboeck and Management Reporter
Assist in the preparation of monthly forecast, yearly budget and annual audit.
Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements which includes preparing and
entering journal entries.
Perform monthly reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts.
Back up to Payroll/Purchasing Specialist.
Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. This include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet -- i.e. smiling, saying "Good Day' or aiding when needed.
Must feel comfortable with around large groups or speaking to a guest.
Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of "The Magic is in the details".
All other assigned duties.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university is required.
Minimum of two (2) years prior work experience relative to position preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of accepted financial and cost accounting. Excellent math skills and attention to detail are required.Ability to work in fast paced environment. Must have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and work well as a team member. This position requires the ability to interact with all levels of staff and clients. Must be able to get along with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors to the facility. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Prior experience with Solomon or Ungerboeck a plus. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
No certifications are required.
