Job Description Details:

The Credentialing Specialist position provides support to all credentialing activities of the Mount Carmel Health Plan (MCHP)Credentialing Department. This position is responsible for accurate entry and maintenance of provider data in MCHP Provider systems.


  • Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellence Behavior Standards holding self and others accountable and role modeling excellence for all to see. For example: demonstrates friendliness and courtesy, effective communication creates a professional environment and provides first class service

  • Provides data entry support to the Credentialing Department as assigned.

  • Reviews source documents such as Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH),=

  • Provider Change forms, W-9s and other sources for additions and modifications related to data entry in the operating system according to departmental policies and procedures.

  • Enters out of network provider demographics and other information into the operating system in an accurate and timely manner using the MCHP data standards.

  • Prioritizes daily work in support of the Credentialing Coordinators.

  • Generates monthly files which support the online provider directory and creates the initial download file for the annual printed provider directory.

  • Responsible for consistent compliance with data entry standards.

  • Scans hardcopy provider credentialing documents into shared online files. Generates the Specialist and Primary Care Provider (PCP) termination letters.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Education: High School diploma required

  • Demonstrates organization skills with good time management

  • Strong technical/PC skills required

  • Demonstrates internal and external verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates ability to handle confidential information
