Position Summary: The BAS Controls Technician (Electrician) installs, troubleshoots and repairs complex building automation systems. Efficiently installs and terminates low voltage wiring, DDC controllers and control devices necessary for a fully functioning system. Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site customer interactions. Interface with mechanical technicians regarding the customers building automation needs.
Determine system needs and proactively identify problems.
Diagnose and repair complex DDC system’s
Provide technical knowledge to diagnose control system concerns and ensure occupant comfort.
Troubleshoot DDC controllers, communication wiring, sensors, programming, and basic system design to identify issues and determine corrective action.
Understands the importance and urgency of system installations to reduce customer downtime
Field commissioning of DDC devices.
Maintain a clean and organized work space within the customers facility
Possess general knowledge of how commercial HVAC systems function.
Take responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of job duties.
Provide maximum customer service and professional communication to all associates and customers.
Education and Experience: Must have training and experience in Building Automation, Digital Direct Controls (DDC) Systems and pneumatic controls. Individual must possess a high level of computer skills. A minimum 2 years’ experience in building automation is required. Niagara AX, Honeywell and basic IP networking experience is a plus.
Required Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
Must have a complete understanding of commercial HVAC systems, and basic electrical knowledge. Must be able to work from plans customary to the trade’s area, including the ability to understand electrical schematics as they pertain to HVAC systems. Technician must have superior skills in the operation of most basic power and hand tools common to the HVAC trade.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Troubleshooting of DDC systems
Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
