The Production Planner reviews product demand and schedules production to meet internal and external customer demand, which includes direct orders (internal and external) and make-to-stock orders. As product demand, component availability, and capacity availability changes, Production Planner adjusts the schedules accordingly and communicates updated delivery information to all necessary parties. The Production Planner is a knowledge leader in Enterprise Resource Planning and Master Production Scheduling.


  1. Lead the effort to develop, manage, and administer planning of multiple supply chains to meet customer’s requirements, while minimizing the amount of working capital required.

  2. Develop and implement planning tools, which account for supply chain response, peak daily demand, forecast volatility, supply chain capacity, and capability.

  3. Evaluate customer forecast and enter information into MRP system.

  4. Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Update, when appropriate, system lead-time offset information.

  5. Verify bills of material parts availability and advise shortages to purchase or machining planners.

  6. Prepare defined work package bills of materials to initiate and control production work.

  7. Prepare and maintain required production reports and participate in daily production meetings to discuss current and future production.

  8. Ensure all parties are fully cognizant of production status, and that work planning and execution objectives are integrated and communicated.

  9. Schedule, expedite, and coordinate the delivery and movement of critical material, including material transfers and conditional material releases.

  10. Utilize part shortage reports to solve inventory issues and optimize the use of working capital.

  11. Manage demand load versus capacity at a Work Center level to ensure Customer OTD requirements.

  12. Support efforts around new products and services.

  13. Report BOM inaccuracies for correction.

  14. Other duties and projects as assigned.


Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations. An appropriate combination of education and directly related experience is acceptable if the ability to perform duties and responsibilities is demonstrated.

  2. 3+ years of related work experience in Supply Chain Planning, Scheduling, and Inventory Control is required.

  3. 3+ years using MRP System(s) (JD Edwards Preferred).

  4. LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred.
