Meggitt is a global engineering group specializing in extreme environment products and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defense and energy markets. We employ over 11,000 people across manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe, North America, with regional bases in India and the Middle East.
Responsible for developing and verifying solutions to problems by performing various assigned product development or product improvement tasks.
This position reports to a Group Leader or Section head and coordinates with other engineers involved in the same project. There are no subordinates reporting to this position, however, the incumbent may be required to guide and instruct less technically experienced engineers.
The Engineer Development is the second level in the technical progression. Incumbents perform development work on new products or improvements to existing products under relatively close supervision and with advice from more experienced engineers. Assignments may include; experimental product design; development of experimental tools for fabricating and testing; analyzing test results and preparing reports; and providing technical assistance to the shop in connection with the fabrication of mock ups and models.
At this level the incumbent is experienced and responsible for applying standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in providing solutions to a variety of problems. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to efficiently apply standard MABS and industry techniques, methods and criteria to the solution of engineering problems. The incumbent must also possess knowledge of plant operations sufficient to obtain and integrate services of other groups whose participation is essential to successful accomplishment of assignments.
Assignments at this level are moderately complex but are normally guided by precedence. The principal challenge is in matching available methodology and/or support functions to particular assignments. Results are organized, interpreted and reported with little guidance. The incumbent works under general supervision with regular reviews during performance of the work. Planning of assignments is normally performed by the incumbent with concurrence of the supervisor. Final reports and results are approved by the supervisor for soundness of technical judgment and overall accuracy and adequacy.
