Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Site Manager for upcoming projects at our client facility in Toledo, OH, anticipated to start in August 2017.

Level Specific Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary client contact at the site level for all project field activities

  • Responsible for craft labor relations using the GPPMA national union labor contract

  • Oversight of the AECOM safety program through the safety manager

  • Oversight of the AECOM quality program through the quality manager

  • Oversight of the project controls function through the planning staff, scheduler, and cost person.

  • Capable to review work scopes to ensure compliance with design specifications, is completed on schedule, adheres to budget, meets accounting requirements and is built to quality standards.

  • Understands the steps to take to manage all aspects of the project cycle including, safety, incident and injury management and reporting, leadership, goal setting, employee development, managing project risk, communications to the client and AECOM.

  • Capable of producing and maintaining a highly productive work force.

  • Follows AECOM corporate process and standards, has knowledge of maintenance excellence processes and practices, develops and follows the formal execution plan using strong knowledge in scheduling and cost management tools, ensuring the AECOM financial cash flow process is managed, with the highest quality product turned over to the client.

  • Sets day-to-day direction, priorities, and manpower levels for the integrated project team Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring, and motivation to support the development of the organization.

  • Leads and motivates desired behaviors (e.g., coaching the project team and mentoring one or more individuals).

  • Requests functional support when issues arise on implementation of standard processes or methods. This may be due to weaknesses in the processes or insufficient skills or resources on the project.

  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to pro-actively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.

  • Ensures effective employee development plans for staff to drive organizational growth for assigned personnel.

  • Ensures that construction facilities are able to meet the organizations needs for safe and productive operations.

  • Ensure Client’s business needs are met per the contract and fosters a strong partnering relationship.

  • Knows in detail the AECOM contract and work with-in its framework to manage profit / loss.

  • Develop, maintains, and reports site key performance indicator data in safety, quality, cost, schedule, and productivity.

Reports to AECOM regional Director of Operations

Direct staff reports include: Admin support, General Superintendent, Quality Manager, SHE Manager, craft payroll lead, Filed Support Services Manager, coordinators, and planning group.

  • This is not a office-confined position. It is expected that the successful applicant will put on the required safety gear and be in the field overseeing and participating with the work force on a daily basis.

  • Has a record of proven performance as Project/Construction Manager on previous projects.

  • Capable of performing as the Project Manager on a high risk, high complexity project.

  • Has a thorough knowledge of all engineering disciplines, construction and maintenance disciplines, technologies and job site management;

  • Must demonstrate a record of safety commitment and a belief that Zero injuries/incidents is achievable

  • Responsible for managing a maintenance/ shutdown / small capital delivery project, where as the manager you are responsible for the overall operation of the project to include the safety and wellbeing of its employees, safeguarding company funds and property, and generally represents the company with respect to the client. Able to interface with the client plant manager for strategic issues and continuous improvement.

  • Efficient at conducting work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard construction techniques; Demonstrates the ability to work on unusually complicated projects; Responsible for the organization, direction, supervision and coordination of all field activities as delineated in the applicable corporate procedures project execution procedures and plans and the site specific safety plan;

  • Has the ability to instill and produce an extremely high standard of work ethics across the entire AECOM team staff and union craft. Must have the necessary advanced knowledge base to mentor, coach, teach a developing team across all of their disciplines to improve performance across all job functions.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Facility Management or other relevant discipline or, demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years experience working at operating facilities in operations/maintenance, TAR/shut downs or direct hire construction.

  • Direct experience managing multi-discipline, UNION building trades craft work force in the Chemical, Refining, Power and/or Process plant industry required.

  • Must have 10 years of management experience over UNION building trades direct hire craft construction and maintenance, or TAR shutdown experience handling overall contractor responsibilities to include: maintenance support, shut down planning and execution and delivery of small capital projects.

  • Must have a record of managing a staff with a minimum of 50 or more members in a team setting

  • Must have experience managing craft levels of 200 craft across all disciplines.

  • Primavera P6 advanced knowledge and experience required

  • Advanced knowledge of cost and schedule principles and tools

  • Advanced skills in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SAP desirable

  • Knowledge of the GPMA national union labor contract desirable

Additional Information:

  • Must achieve STS national safety certification in 12 months of employment

  • Must complete AECOM manager on-line electronic training with in 12 months of employment

  • Must be physically fit enough to wear fire retardant coverall, walk the field and climb multiple flights of stairs to access remote work locations on a daily basis.

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • Per diem support is available for this position.
