We are currently seeking a Director of Payroll at our Corporate office in North Canton, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers result oriented leadership through best practices and processes that provide necessary strategic execution of Payroll plans across a variety of employee groups and locations

  • Responsible for corporate payroll strategy, planning, communications, and marketing the payroll function and related services

  • Manages a team of payroll specialists who approve payroll and prepare payroll checks/ACH payments

  • Manages the payroll function ensuring quality and timely processing of payroll activities to include: timecards and payroll processing, compilation of payroll statistics, reconciliation of payroll tax payments, filings and returns, annual W2 Forms, and all levels of record maintenance

  • Provides ad-hoc reporting to management/executive teams as requested

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a centralized and integrated Payroll System; evaluate and recommend ongoing system enhancements

  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring work activities

  • Interprets company policies and government regulations in connection with payroll procedures, and directs preparation of government reports

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws

  • Ensure the Payroll function complies with internal policies and procedures, and external regulations and laws

  • Stays current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and others related and to ensure effective accounting support

  • Partner with Finance to meet closing schedule deadlines

  • Assist with internal and external audits

  • Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred

  • 3+ years of Payroll management experience, with a multi-state company

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute strategically by identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements

  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws, legal regulations and payroll requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and practices

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees and management

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems. Previous UltiPRO experience a plus.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and have a high level of integrity

  • Proficient computer skills a MUST
