Manufacturing Engineer, Assembly

Nidec Minster Corporation is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Assembly for stamping presses at our corporate headquarters in Minster, OH. This position is a combination of manufacturing and process engineering. The role will be responsible for supporting an ETO (engineered to order) product operation in our assembly process. Focus will be on developing, refining and documenting manufacturing methods, processes and controls. Work to improve the effectiveness of manufacturing in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency and delivery for the assembly process. This position will manage multiple projects that involve equipment evaluation/acquisition and process improvement/validation. Initial focus of this position will be to research and implement a robust work instruction system that will help gather, organize and deploy current and future assembly work instructions. This solution will then be implemented throughout the rest of organization.
Bachelor's degree with a focus in engineering, manufacturing technology, or possess at least 15 years in this area of expertise.
3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
CAD experience (NX Siemens a plus)
AutoCAD experience, GD&T, print reading, ability to organize and interpret data to resolve issues
Lean Manufacturing techniques, DFM, visual factory and Six Sigma
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated excellence and confidence in engineering problem solving
Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals
Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment
Familiarity with OSHA regulations
Support current manufacturing operations by troubleshooting existing products and processes to reduce rework and scrap.
Design, acquire, install and document production tooling and manufacturing equipment that will aid in the assembly of stamping presses.
Assist design engineers in implementing design for manufacturability attributes into press designs.
Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods.
Resolve manufacturing issues utilizing root cause analysis techniques when needed. If the issue is large enough or complex enough you will be expected to lead an 8D analysis to resolve the issue.
Integrate new technologies into the production environment.
Identify and improve manufacturing capabilities by improving safety, reducing waste and increasing productivity of our assemblers.
Own the work instructions process for the assembly process. This would include the development, maintenance, accuracy and deployment of these documents.
Work to improve the ergonomics of assembly tasks by working closely with assemblers.
Drive improvements in safety, quality, efficiency and delivery by utilizing the continuous improvement process.
