Cleveland Clinic Staff-Scheduling-Associate-Nursing in Independence, Ohio

Job Summary:

Ensures that staffing adjustments for assigned areas are completed in an accurate in a timely fashion to maintain adequate staff, nurse to patient ratios.

Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with management of assigned units to produce consistent staffing levels that schedule appropriate number of staff to meet operational needs.

  • Proactively seeks coverage for shifts and special circumstances.

  • Consistently informs management of future and or immediate staffing shortages for any given shift or circumstance.

  • Facilitates scheduling of PRN staff and agency staff to maintain operations for the assigned units.

  • Completes appropriate and adequate documentation by utilizing computer for master schedule, time changes, log books for staff call-ins.

  • Administers timekeeper responsibilities such as correcting missed punches and making updates to employee timecards to ensure accurate accounts of productivity status. Corrects employee timecards and interfaces with payroll department to coordinate time changes to ensure timecards are kept up to date in accordance with wage and labor standards. Prepares timecards for manager to approve.

  • Compiles ad hoc and scheduled reports for Nurse Managers.

  • Identifies patterns of behavior by employees as related to time and attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • One year experience utilizing automated systems.

  • Prior staffing/scheduling skills preferred.

  • Associate Degree in information technology or related field may substitute for work experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires manual dexterity for constant data entry and ability to sit for long periods of time.

  • Ability to use a telephone without TTY. Articulate speech.
