The Scale Operator/Cashier has the authority to communicate directly with suppliers and grade inbound material within the policy established by the Office Manager.
The Scale Operator/Cashier has the authority to reject inbound material which does not comply with appropriate specifications established by the Office Manager.
1.Assure accurate and comprehensive documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions:
a.Inbound Material - Record suppliers, truck or car identification, contract number (if appropriate), description and grade of material, gross, tare, and net weights, and discharge location of the load (if appropriate). Ensure compliance with CFC policy and procedures.
b.Outbound Material - Record purchaser contract number, truck or car identification, description and grade of material, gross, tare, and net weights, and specific source of the material loaded. Assume that outbound truckloads are only to authorized purchasers.
2.Maintain accurate daily records of scale operations.
a.Active Contract Log - Maintain up-to-date list of all purchase and sales contracts for accurate application on scale tickets.
b.Obtain new sales, requisition numbers, and other information as required from various traders and other yard locations to enter sales contracts, purchase requisitions, and inbound contracts as needed.
c.Maintain daily records of all purchases and sales transactions. Assure proper assignment of purchase and sales order numbers to inbound and outbound material.
d.Enter and update any corrections, changes or reversals to inbound and outbound contract shipments due to yard, traffic or accounting office errors or changes.
3.Ensure the quality of all scrap material received and shipped.
a.Be familiar with material specification on all purchase and sales orders.
b.Inspect incoming purchased material; inform Yard Manager of non-compliant material.
c.Inspect outbound loads for compliance with consumer specification and proper load size.
4.Perform end of the day balancing consisting or:
a.Run end of day reports and balance cash.
b.Be sure cash supply is secure in vault before leaving.
c.Input ITGR's and work with inventory controller on problems.
5.Maintain and manage Over the Scale (O.T.S.) payables.
a.File and organize Scale Checks, O.T.S. tickets, and daily/monthly reports in timely and neat manner
b.Maintain daily disbursement log of O.T.S. transactions.
c.Maintain Non-Ferrous purchase records as required.
6.Assist with dispatch/schedule of outbound truck shipments. Accumulate roll-off truck box list as needed and work with office manager to maintain and rotate roll-off boxes.
7.Assist buyers with price changes, adjustments and calls to suppliers as necessary.
8.Order supplies as needed for scale operations: ferrous and anon-ferrous checks, scale tickets, bills of lading, computer paper and ribbons, misc. office supplies
9.In absence of Yard Manager and/or Scrap Buyer respond to urgent calls and faxes by providing proper reply. Forwarding the information and follow-up.
10.Answer phone and take detailed messages as required.
11.Pay designated suppliers/roll off customers as approved by office manager
- Ability to travel between various PSC Locations as necessary.
12.Perform other duties as assigned.
1.Minimum High School Diploma/GED is required.
2.1-3 years of office and/or cash handling experience is required.
3.Microsoft Office - must be able to use as required by the job.
4.Exceptional customer service skills.
