L3 Technologies Materials Manager in Cincinnati, Ohio
Summary The Materials Manager is responsible for all production planning & inventory management functions, workflows, and continuous improvement of all material management processes. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Production Planning & Inventory Control and will be responsible for establishing and monitoring the standardization and use of our S&OP, MPS, and detailed production scheduling processes. This position leads the company efforts towards planning standardization and identifying and implementing opportunities to improve product delivery times and maintaining long-range capacity plans through an integrated Master Production Scheduling process.
Owner of the master production scheduling and detailed production scheduling processes.
Create and improve production planning KPI/business intelligence dashboards and reporting tools.
Key participant in the Sales & Operations Planning process (S&OP).
Lead communication between Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Program teams for supply and demand issue resolution.
Monitor and track inventory levels and other planning metrics, recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance performance.
Develop analytics, models, and decision support tools for inventory optimization and long-range capacity analysis.
Drive long-term capacity strategies and cycle time reduction opportunities.
Lead process improvement projects across Demand & Supply Planning, Manufacturing, and Inventory Control
Prepare presentations on inventory metrics and material/schedule reporting to support the Program Review processes (EAC reviews, EVMS, etc.)
Lead, mentor and motivate a group of ten plus professional staff / associates.
Qualifications / Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or related Business/Technical degree required; MBA or relevant graduate degree a plus
APICS Certification; CPIM/CSCP a plus
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is a plus
5 years of experience in Supply Chain/Inventory Planning/Operations in a consumer products or military/DoD environment—preferably in complex electronics manufacturing.
5 years of hands-on experience with complex ERP/MRP planning software (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Cost-Point, etc.)
Experience in an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 environment preferred.
Business or Operations experience with solid quantitative and process improvement skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of demand/supply planning, inventory/materials management, and sales/operations planning processes and best practices.
Strong project management and communication skills concentrated on data gathering and dissemination.
Strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking skills.
Leadership and consultative skills; ability to work cross-functionally and with all levels of the organization.
Excellent communication and presentation skills (especially gathering & synthesis of data) as well as group/meeting facilitation skills.
Solid understanding of planning architecture – demand generation, distribution requirements, days of supply, safety stock modeling and master production scheduling.
Strong project management skills - detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful with a relentless focus on outcomes.
Ability to work effectively and creatively in a lean environment.
