Position Summary:

The Director, Sales Training & Education is responsible for organizing and implementing sales education and training programs for AtriCure sales associates globally. The Director will design and develop training curriculum, tools, and other materials to establish and maintain sales representative’s proficiency and competency for our devices and the procedures in which they are used.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and continuously improve sales education and training programs

  • Monitor and record individual progress and gap-closing strategies

  • Update curriculum in accordance with new products, procedure, and market developments

  • Seek out and apply latest techniques and tools for medical education and adult learning

  • Identify and develop a network of physician experts to participate in sales education programs and tools

  • Develop and implement structured, modular curriculum for sales personnel, including:

  • Cardiac anatomy and physiology

  • AF disease state

  • Procedural/product/market training

  • Relevant clinical science

  • Compliance, Advamed, & required training for Operating Room access

  • Implement methods and tactics for advanced training programs

  • Partner with sales, marketing, and engineering to ensure training programs support business strategies

  • Engage sales advisory board to provide feedback on sales training needs and to support new hire education

  • Drive ongoing education of commercial team by planning and executing journal clubs, expert physician web-ex presentations, and various regional, national and global sales meetings


  • Undergraduate degree in Life Science, Engineering or related area

  • 8+ years progressive medical device sales/sales management experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical, training, or technical education position

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Experience developing a comprehensive sales training methodology

  • Ability to work well within a team environment

  • Ability to summarize and present complex information to others effectively


  • Experience in the cardio-thoracic or electrophysiology medical device industry

  • Existing Key Opinion Leader (KOL) physician relationships in cardiac surgery and/or electrophysiology

  • Experience working in a global capacity
