Aleris Senior Manager, HSE Process Improvements in Beachwood, Ohio

Aleris is a global leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminum rolled products, with approximately 14 facilities in three geographically aligned business units in North America, Europe and China. We serve a variety of end-use industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, building and construction, transportation, packaging, and consumer goods.

Aleris is seeking to add a talented Senior Manager, HSE Process Improvements. This position is a key member of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) function. Working in collaboration with select stakeholders, this position will support the development and execution of HSE improvement processes across the Company on a global basis. The position will also provide data management and reporting to advance best in class programs and initiatives. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of HSE.

  • Work with Operations and business teams to support the achievement of the Company’s HSE goals.

  • Improve the execution and upgrade of key processes to achieve and sustain HSE performance excellence.

  • Support the systems for data collection, management and reporting of the HSE and Sustainability efforts. Analyze and communicate key performance indicators.

  • Provide proactive communications to plants and to the company’s leadership regarding benchmark programs and performance, industry events, news and compliance.

  • Drive sharing of information (best practices, lessons learned, etc.) between sites, and other business units

  • Establish and implement a safety system audit process across the Company that evaluates safety systems and the implementation of company standards.

  • Lead select HSE training efforts with company facilities.

  • Participate as an audit member of the company’s HSE Audit Assurance program.

  • Manage the development and continual improvement efforts of company HSE Standards.

  • Manage the “Data Manager System” providing support and training to the facilities to reach the full potential of the system.

  • BS in Engineering, Industrial Safety or another technically related degree.

  • 5 + years’ experience in industrial safety, health and environmental specifically in the areas of water, waste and air regulation.

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and other key HSE related regulations.

  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate

  • Ability to facilitate programs and present to groups.

  • Solid change management skills with the ability to implement new programs.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of continuous process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen.

3 years of supervisory experience.

Prior experience working in a Metals Manufacturing company

Multi-site management experience.
